The 2022 Eastern Division Intercollegiate Band, coordinated by Dr. Eric Melley (Providence College), and hosted by Dr. Melvin Miles (Morgan State University) is open to students from any university or college in the division!

The Eastern Division of CBDNA is pleased to make a call for nominations for the Intercollegiate Band in Baltimore. The band will rehearse and perform at the Eastern Division Conference in Baltimore, Maryland Feb. 18-19, 2022. We are excited to announce this year’s ensemble will be directed by Dr. Carolyn Barber from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln!
Please note the following:
1. All conference attendees, including student musicians, must provide proof of vaccination AND negative COVID test within 72 hours of the conference (method of notification and other mitigations tba). Players are required to use playing masks for the performance.
2. Nominated students must be current members of an instrumental ensemble at your institution
3. Nominating directors must hold active membership in CBDNA.
4. All nominations and recordings must be submitted online by December 20, 2021.
5. A participation fee of $60 per student will be due for all accepted musicians. No money is due for nomination.
6. Students will be notified through their director of their acceptance.
7. Nominated students should submit a recording comprising a performance, with or without accompaniment, of any solo(s) or etude(s) of the student’s choice that they think reflects current ability level. This could include either a portion of a recording from a recent recital or an audition recording made expressly for the purpose of this audition. Audition recordings should be uploaded in mp3 format, be at least 3 minutes in duration, and should not exceed 10 minutes of total music; excerpts of longer pieces are acceptable.
Directors can nominate students via the following link. The form requires that you rate each nominee on various areas of their musical ability using a 1-10 scale to assist with the selection process (each student must be entered separately).
